En février 2001, Mohanad a obtenu son diplôme de Shodan et peu de temps après, il a déménagé aux Émirats arabes unis et a commencé à enseigner l’Aïkido à Sharjah.
Après être retourné enseigner à Bagdad en 2006, le conflit de guerre l’a forcé, avec sa famille, à déménager en Jordanie, où il a continué à pratiquer et à enseigner. En 2007, il obtient la certification Nidan auprès de Franco Martufi sensei.
Quittant la Jordanie et son pays natal en 2008, il s’installe en Californie, aux États-Unis, où il commence à étudier dans divers dojos, dont l’Orange County Aikikai, où il obtient le grade de Sandan auprès de Robert Kubo de l’Aikido Hawaii International – c’était en 2010. Poursuivant à peaufiner sa pratique, il obtient le grade de Yondan en 2017 auprès de Robert Ishibashi sensei de l’Aiki Kai de Los Angeles.
En 2021, il rejoint Zitlalpilli Luna sensei du dojo Satorishin et entame son affiliation avec l’Aïkido Kobayashi Ryu et son Soke, André Cognard Hanshi.
En 2023, après un séminaire intensif à Los Angeles, Cognard Hanshi lui décerne le grade de Godan et l’entrée dans le Shihankai.

Mohanad Alkaabi began studying Aikido in 1992 with Atif Amman sensei and continued training after his instructor’s departure in 1994.
In February 2001 Mohanad earned his Shodan degree and shortly after moved to the United Arab Emirates and began teaching Aikido in Sharjah. After returning to teach in Baghdad in 2006, the war conflict forced him, along with his family, to move to Jordan, where he continued to practice and teach. In 2007 he earned Nidan certification under Franco Martufi sensei.
Leaving Jordan and his homeland in 2008, he settled in California, USA where he began to study at various dojos, including Orange County Aikikai, where he earned Sandan rank from Robert Kubo of Aikido Hawaii International – the year was 2010. Continuing to refine his practice, he earned the rank of Yondan in 2017 under RobertIshibashi sensei of Los Angeles Aiki Kai.
In 2021 he joined Zitlalpilli Luna sensei of Satorishin dojo and began his affiliation with Kobayashi Ryu Aikido and its Soke, André Cognard Hanshi.
In 2023, after an intensive seminar in Los Angeles, Cognard Hanshi conferred the rank of Godan and entry into the Shihankai.
The thing I admire in this art is the joy in the freedom of movement and its soul; howsimple and easy if it’s done right, and so humbling when it is not. Even after all theseyears I still feel like a beginner, what a joyful art !
